Ms. Kelly Hillman

Director of Communications, Recruitment and Event Production

Kelly Hillman began her career at MSA in 2006 as a teacher and is now an Arts Administrator. In her position as Director of Communication, Event Production, and Community Relations, she has implemented strategies around marketing and public relations while engaging staff, students, and parents in the world of arts education. As a lifelong performer herself, Ms. Hillman maintains relationships and stays in close collaboration with key community arts activists and enthusiasts. While mentoring her students as performers, stage crew, and all aspects of technical theater, Ms. Hillman is working with her counterparts both in the community as well as academia. Ms. Hillman holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management and Mass Communications from Eckerd College, has her National Dance Teaching Certification from the University of Las Vegas, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Louisiana State University.

Committed to public service, Ms. Hillman serves on the Board of Directors for Take Stock in Children and is an Advisory Board Member for the Salvation Army. She is also a Co-Director for the county-wide production “Yes We Can Dance,” a member of the National School Public Relations Association, an Inaugural Board member of the Manatee Chamber Young Professionals, and a committee member for the Manatee Arts Education Council’s Arts Alive Celebration.

Ms. Hillman has extensive experience in the performing arts and business management, but the best part of her work is appreciating the connections between the artists, their audiences, and the community . The population of students and staff at Manatee School For the Arts is very diverse. She works hard to implement all the multicultural traditions that honor and support growth in the MSA family. In 2008, Ms. Hillman co-created the MSA Student Ambassador program to give high school students an opportunity to earn community service hours while learning the business components of events and productions. Now mixing her production and event management experience with her knowledge of the performing arts, Ms. Hillman produces music concerts, gallery shows, theatrical productions, dance showcases and countless community events each year. Today, her passion for the arts is a catalyst to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together using the power and inclusivity of art to improve the communities we live in.
